I want to grow a kitchen herb garden.. where do I begin?
By admin | April 9, 2010
I use a lot of herbs, both fresh and dried in cooking and am fed up buying them! I would like to grow rosemary, lemon thyme, dill, parsley and tarragon amongst others.
I haven’t a clue how to get started and once I’m up and running how to keep the plants alive.. ie which part of the herb to use without killing it off!
I am NOT green fingered!!
thank you!

I have an herb garden but it is outside. Many of the herbs are perennials and come back year after year. Some get pretty big too. Parsley is a bi-annual and comes for another year after planting. Dill grows pretty high, like 3 or 4 feet and although it is an annual, it reseeds itself rather well. I have dill growing everywhere now. My oregano is the size of a 20 inch boxwood, kind of big for a kitchen.
My herb garden is about 5 ft x 15 ft. I have not finished it yet and plenty of room for more. Sage grows well into the winter and so does lemon balm. Once I planted everything, they take care of themselves pretty much and you will more than enough to share with friends.
You use the leaf of the herb but you can let it go to seed and use the seeds as well.

Use the search box-growing herbs indoors.
There is a lot of information hiding in there.
